There are Gargoyle statues aside and a pedestal. When the door is open, Geralt can enter another chamber. If he doesn't have any crossbow, by chance, there's one lying around. Geralt agreed to investigate the problem, and soon discovered the animals were controlled by a spirit entrapped in a tree growing atop the hill.
